Listen to Chris Brogan for a Minute

Churches, you need to listen to Chris Brogan for a minute. He had a great post today called “Plans of Attack.” Basically talking about a couple of social media people taking the time to go back and forth and attack one another. Ultimately, Chris’s conclusion was that people were wasting their time doing something that produces no income (value). There’s a valuable lesson for the church.

We do need to take time to address issues as they come up. As someone teaches something that is contrary to Scripture, we can point that out, correct it, and if need be admonish the one who said it. But then we can move on. After a while, people just aren’t listening and the conversation isn’t productive. It’s like talking to someone from Westboro Baptist (those are the crazy people who protest everything, especially funerals and events regarding homosexuality). Say your peace and move on. We don’t need to start ministries against a person or another ministry. We don’t need to harp on something when it’s obviously not going anywhere. We become white noise in the background. Debate for enrichment is good. We know that is very often not the case with regard to what people are doing. There are things that are much more productive.

Better yet, let’s be known for what we’re for instead of what we’re against. The rest will begin to speak for itself.
