A lot of times, we get paralyzed trying to figure out what to do. What career direction should I take? What should I write about? Where should I go on vacation? We get paralyzed trying to make decisions. Then, we start running out of time, our decisions wind up being poor, if we even make one. Doing something is better than doing nothing. You can always change later if you think you’re going the wrong direction. Most often though, that’s how we find what we like, what we’re good at, and the direction we need to go. We get inspired as we’re doing, not as we’re contemplating.
So, don’t just sit around waiting to have some spontaneous epiphany about what you need to do. Just try something. If you want to write, just write something. You’ll get bad with the good, but at least eventually you’ll have something good. And, something good is better than nothing. If you aren’t sure what you want to do in life, try something. It may wind up being a great fit. If it doesn’t work out, try something else. Any option is better than nothing.
Just do something. Don’t waste your life thinking and not doing.
