Last night, John Saddington had a post about being motivated. Sometimes you feel motivated, sometimes you don’t. He has good advice, and I’d recommend the quick 2 minute video.
Another thing I’d add though, is to just try to do a little. Sometimes, it just takes a small victory to get motivated. So, if you don’t feel like doing something (like blogging), try a small version of it. Don’t feel the pressure, don’t feel like it has to be incredible. It doesn’t. Just take a small piece and get moving. If it still doesn’t happen, move on to something else. That’s one of the reasons it’s always good to have more than one thing on your plate. And hey, if it doesn’t work out, there’s always tomorrow.
Now, I know there’s always the old “but I can’t wait to do ‘x’ because it’s due today!” Well, try a piece, or try it again later today. Then, you just may have to force yourself. That’s why it’s always good to do things ahead of time though, then you have that luxury of making sure you hit your “on” day!
love this! it’s tough. i’m struggling with it right now.
it’s a daily battle!
It is! Thanks for the motivation John.
