Today is the official 4-year mark of full-time at Wormann Consulting. The company was established for freelance purposes in 2015, but on January 4, 2016 I sat down to work for the first time as a full time contractor/agency. I didn’t know what to expect but I took a risk, knowing that I could provide quality services for clients with low overhead and no red tape. Over the past 4 years there have been some ups and downs, some clients have come and gone, but I’ve been able to establish some great client relationships along the way that have been here for several years, and began partnerships with some fantastic agencies. In 2019 we finally moved in to an actual office, and there are great people working together every day.
Who knows where the next year goes, but I’m clearly looking forward to it, and couldn’t be more thankful for the path that I’m on.
After seeing how the past four years compared to the previous 4, and the previous 10+ before that, I would also say this: “Take a risk on yourself.” Starting a company isn’t for everyone. Neither is freelancing. But at least take a risk doing what you love, and if you can, do it for yourself. If you’re in a job that you hate and you’re doing it for someone else, start looking for an exit. Ask others who have been there before for advice. Try and find something that makes you happy. Life is too short to be trapped in someone else’s dream.
